Artist Statement:

I consider myself a multi-media artist because I dabble in so many different mediums, but my main passion is painting and drawing. I am a colourist, and most of my paintings are full of bright impactful colours that catch your eye. The themes of my paintings vary, but I enjoy doing still lifes and lately I’ve been dabbling in painting the human body. I'm greatly inspired by fauvism because of the colours and vibrancy of the work. I'm also inspired by Kim Dorland’s paintings because of his use of neon colours and how thick and almost sculptural his paint application is.

In the past few years, I’ve been getting into photography especially pinholes and rayographs. I love how old and mysterious the outcome of the photos look. Most of these photos are of found objects and clothing around my home. I’ve also been getting into ceramics and exploring themes such as body positivity and mental health.

Art has always been a part of me and my whole being, and I love sharing this with others and teaching others. Throughout my teaching experience in the community, I’ve realized how calming and therapeutic art-making is, and how crucial art is for our society as a whole.
